PMax Search Terms

This tool is included in the Producthero PRO package, so there will be no additional costs. The Producthero PRO plan costs 99 euros per month, with an additional 49 euros per month for each extra shop or country.

Adding negative keywords to your PMax campaigns is a smart strategy to improve efficiency. By excluding terms that don’t align with your brand or have high clicks but low conversions, you can save on advertising costs and redirect that budget to more profitable, high-converting terms. This helps refine your audience targeting, ensuring your ads only reach relevant users and ultimately improving your ROAS.

The search terms list is automatically created based on the filters you choose, such as impressions, clicks, conversions, and conversion value.

Once the list is generated, you can select the keywords you want to add as negative keywords (for example, those with high number of clicks but low conversions). You can either manually choose specific keywords or select all of them at once for easy copying.

Negative keywords are added at the campaign level. These negative keywords apply to all Search and Shopping inventory, including those in your Performance Max campaigns.

Currently, Google offers the possibility to add up to 10,000 negative keywords per PMax campaign.

• Keywords that have a high number of clicks but a low amount of conversions (they are eating your budget).
• Keywords that don’t match your brand or products. For example: 'Used laptops' if you only sell new electronics or ‘cheap dress’ if you sell high-end clothing.
• Keywords that are usually low quality, such as ‘sale’, ‘free’, ‘review’, etc.

The type of match you choose is entirely up to you, but keep in mind that:

• Exact match can be too restrictive and may not capture close variations of unwanted searches. For example, if you exclude "free dress" with exact match, your ads may still show for searches like "best cheap dresses" or "red dress for free", since the exclusion only applies exactly to "free dress" without accounting for variations.

• Phrase match strikes a balance, ensuring that unwanted phrases are excluded while still providing some flexibility to capture relevant searches.

• Broad match is the most flexible but can sometimes exclude more searches than intended. Excludes searches containing all words in any order.

Our report provides insights into the different keywords' impressions, clicks and conversion value. However, due to current Google Ads API limitations, cost and ROAS data aren’t available.
